TEN (10) REASONS TO UPGRADE TO A LITHIUM BATTERY FOR YOUR GOLF CART:
LIGHTER WEIGHT
Lithium golf cart batteries are half the weight of a traditional lead acid battery, which shaves off two-thirds of the battery weight of a golf cart would normally operate with. This power-to-weight ratio advantage makes your cart easier to maneuver and helps you reach a comfortable speed faster.
It also lets the cart carry up to two additional averaged-sized adults and their equipment before maxing out in capacity.

Another advantage of a lithium-iron battery is that they have a much longer life span. Lithium golf cart batteries provide 3,000 to 5,000 life cycles, compared with lead-acid batteries that only deliver 500 to 1,000 cycles. This, of course, translates into significant cost savings over time.
Although lithium-iron golf cart batteries tend to cost more upfront, there is significant cost savings to regularly replace a lead-acid battery. Even after 2,000 cycles, lithium golf cart batteries, are still able to maintain 80% of the rated capacity. To protect your investment, Sonny Power provides a 5-year manufacturers defect warranty on our batteries.

ZERO MAINTENANCE
One of the major benefits of lithium-iron batteries is that they require no maintenance, whereas lead-acid batteries need to be maintained and checked on a regular basis. Lithium batteries are virtually maintenance-free. All that needs to be done is inspect and clean the connections as required.
Having to perform regular maintenance on lead-acid golf cart batteries takes time and costs money. The lack of lead-acid means that accidental hazardous spills are completely avoided and the chance of downtime and maintenance costs on your golf cart are drastically reduced.

Lithium-iron golf cart batteries provide higher voltage levels compared to lead-acid batteries. Higher voltage helps the golf cart motor produce higher torque values and optimize the efficiency of the cart’s electronics. This translates into a huge enhancement in power and speed.
The more power your batteries give your engine, the easier it is climbing hills. When you are on the flat, lithium batteries are proven to increase a golf carts acceleration and top speed without draining your batteries as quickly.

ECO-FRIENDLY
Lithium batteries take much less time to recharge, thus using less energy. They are also easier to recycle as they do not contain hazardous materials, putting less strain on the environment.

NO ACID SPILLS
Conventional lead-acid golf cart batteries are acid-based, and their plates are immersed into sulfuric acid and electrolytes in which the interaction among them produces energy. However, the fluid becomes saturated with acid is dangerous if there is spillage. Sadly, this is a common occurrence in using golf carts, especially when the cart is heavily used. With lithium-iron batteries, you won’t have to worry about such spillage as this battery does not use sulfuric acid. In other words, there is no risk of any fluid leaks that may harm you.
INTERNAL BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (BMS)
Each golf cart lithium battery comes with a built-in Battery Management System (BMS). This will ensure that your batteries are never over-charged or over-depleted. The BMS continually monitors the battery so that its parameters are maintained within the optimal working ranges.
COST EFFECTIVE
Lithium batteries can go through more charge cycles than conventional lead-acid batteries, in other words, they last longer. The longer your battery lasts, less times you need to purchase a replacement. Additionally, due to the lighter weight, zero maintenance and no-acid spills advantages lithium batteries offer, you will spend much less on your cart’s maintenance costs.
EXTREME TEMPERATURES
By upgrading to a lithium-iron battery, you will be able to play all year-round, this includes under freezing temperatures. You can discharge or use your battery no matter how cold it gets, without worrying about damage. However, you will notice that your lithium battery is dying much quicker than it had in warmer months. When temperatures reach this low, below freezing, it temporarily reduces the capacity. And tough you might notice a minor decrease in power under these extreme conditions, your cart will still make it through your round before having to recharge.
ULTRA SAFE
Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LIFEPO4) is one of the safest battery chemistries available. Additionally, the Battery Management System (BMS) in each battery will detect any problems with the performance of the battery and shut down any cells not functioning properly. One significant risk in all types of batteries is thermal runaway. Thermal runaway causes damage to the battery and can even lead to a fire if not controlled quickly.
Lead-acid batteries offer no protection against thermal runaway. On the other hand, the BMS present in each lithium battery helps regulate the battery’s temperature, monitors for internal shorts, and shuts down the battery if thermal runaway is detected. The advances in lithium battery technology have helped them become much safer than their lead-acid counterparts.
